SP Middletown - Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident
On July 19, 2011 at approximately 4:40pm, New York State Police from Middletown responded to a one car fatal auto accident on I-84 in the Town of Deerpark, Orange County, NY.
The accident occurred in the westbound lanes at mile post marker 1.6 just east of the PA state line. A 2000 GMC Jimmy with Arkansas registration plates was traveling westbound in the driving lane being operated by Purcela Faulkner, age 42 of Little Rock, Ar.
The GMC moved to the passing lane attempting to pass a tractor trailer also traveling in the driving lane. At the same time the tractor trailer began to move into the passing lane.
The GMC moved partially off the roadway into the medium and upon re-entering the roadway the driver lost control, running off the roadway and overturning in the medium.
Both the driver Faulkner and a rear seat passenger identified as Angela Pittman, age 43 also of Little Rock, Ar. were transported to Moorestown Medical Center in NJ.
The front seat passenger identified as Greg Thomas, age 42 of Little Rock, Ar. was pronounced deceased at the scene. The accident investigation is on-going.
