Police Seek Information in Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Collision in Seat Pleasant
Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARU) is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Seat Pleasant, Maryland earlier this morning.
At approximately 4:40 a.m., a passing motorist alerted authorities of an unresponsive male lying in the roadway of Addison Road South near Central Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 34 year old male in the northbound lanes of Addison Road South. The victim, found with trauma consistent with a pedestrian collision, was transported to a local hospital by Prince George’s County Fire and EMS personnel and pronounced deceased a short time later. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to his next of kin.
Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was struck by a northbound traveling vehicle while attempting to cross Addison Road South. The unknown striking vehicle continued northbound without stopping. The victim was not in a crosswalk or an intersection when he was struck. CARU investigators are seeking information regarding the striking vehicle or information from anyone who may have witnessed or been in the area at the time of the collision.
