Wilmington, Delaware – DUI Checkpoint Scheduled for Friday July 15th, 2011

10 Arrested for DUI Over Weekend – More Checkpoints and DUI Patrols Planned for Coming Weekend

Dover – Ten more people were arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs during week two of the Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign.

Agencies conducting checkpoints and patrols included the New Castle County DUI Task Force, Clayton PD, and Smyrna PD.

In addition to the checkpoint DUI arrests, officers issued 4 seat belt citations, apprehended 5 wanted individuals, made 4 drug arrests, 4 felony arrests, made 3 underage drinking arrests, issued 2 child restraint citations, and 71 citations for various other traffic violations. Two sobriety checkpoints and one patrol are scheduled to occur next weekend. They are scheduled for:

Friday July 15th – Wilmington– Checkpoint (NcCo DUI Task Force) Saturday July 16th – Millsboro– Checkpoint (DSP Troop 5) Millsboro – Patrols (Millsboro PD) Checkpoint Strikeforce is a regional sobriety checkpoint campaign aimed at arresting DUI offenders, and using high visibility enforcement to deter those who would otherwise choose to drink and drive. The campaign, a six month long effort running through New Year’s Eve, involves setting up weekly DUI checkpoints statewide.
