Drinking and driving tragedy leaves two dead.
On May 23, 2012, at approximately 9:20 p.m., deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Green Valley District, Sahuarita Police Department, and Green Valley Fire District responded to a serious collision in the 9400 blk. of Box Canyon Road in the Madera Canyon area.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a red pickup truck had gone off the side of a steep cliff and had tumbled approximately two hundred (200) feet.
Deputies repelled down to the collision site at which time they discovered two deceased subjects and two additional injured subjects.
Members from the Pima County Search & Rescue Unit and Traffic Unit investigators responded to assist.
At this time, traffic investigators are advising that the red 2004 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on Box Canyon Road with the four occupants inside when the driver lost control and went off the side of the cliff.
The vehicle rolled multiple times, ejecting one of the victims who was pronounced deceased.
The deceased are identified as Dustin James Bean (DOB 03/27/90) and Zaida Ozelle Cruz Pacelli (DOB 12/01/93). A third passenger was transported to the Trauma Center at the University Medical Center in serious condition.
The third passenger is identified as Anthony Michael Bencomo (DOB 12/24/89).
The driver, identified as Jacklyn Diane Salazar-Brisacher (DOB 05/23/91) was transported with non-life threatening injuries and was released.
After an investigation, it was determined that Jacklyn Diane Salazar-Brisacher was driving under the influence of alcohol. She has been arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on 2 cnts. of 2nd Degree Murder and 1 cnt. Aggravated Assault.
The investigation continues.
